South Carolina: According to Dennis Dodd of CBS, Steve Spurrier will be immediately eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame as a member of the 2017 class.
Detroit Lion: After an 0-5 start to the season, head coach Jim Caldwell noted that he isn’t considering making any coaching changes to his staff.
South Carolina: Interim head coach Shawn Elliott noted at the press conference today that QBs coach GA Mangus will serve as the primary play caller moving forward, and Travelle Wharton (an offensive quality control coordinator) will move into the role of offensive line coach. Wharton is a former Gamecock player and retired from the NFL in 2014.
USC: ESPN’s L.A. based Arash Markazi reports that USC won’t fire Pat Haden. He adds that Haden will resign if “he feels USC wants to make a change”; but Markazi adds, “Not getting that sense.”

Co-offensive coordinator / OL coach Shawn Elliott, who has been with the program six years, will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Maryland: A few staff adjustments are in store at Maryland; grad assistant AJ Reisig will help with the outside linebackers, grad assistant Cody Catalina will help with the tight ends, and tight ends coach John Dunn will aid with some of the offensive coordinator duties while OC Mike Locksley takes on the interim head coach role, per SI.
Brooklyn Bolts (FXFL): Per source, the Bolts have named a handful of staff members as follows; Terry Shea (HC), Denny Schuler (DC), Jim Benedict (WRs), Wynel Seldon (RBs), Marty Galbraith (OL), Eric Hicks (DL), Shawn Barber (LBs), and Michael Woods (DFO).

South Carolina: Steve Spurrier is retiring effective immediately FootballScoop has confirmed. Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott will serve as interim head coach, according to Alex Marvez. Head Ball Coach will be missed by many. Thank you for a heck of a run and for always keeping us laughing HBC.
University of Jamestown (NAIA – ND): Head coach Shawn Frank has resigned. Travis Titus will serve as interim head coach.
UCF: George O’Leary will remain on as football coach; but has stepped down as athletic director. Here’s more on the story.
Urbana (D-II – OH): Urbana has an opening for a home game on October 8, 2016. Interested programs can contact head coach Tyler Haines at [email protected].
North Alabama (D-II): The University of North Alabama is looking for a home game on September 10, 2016, and is willing to return the game in 2017. Interested programs can contact athletic director Mark D. Linder at [email protected].
Miami Dolphins: Special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi has been promoted to assistant head coach.
Maryland: Director of football operations Fran Foley was also let go this weekend.
Hudson Valley Fort (FXFL): The Hudson Valley Fort of the Fall Experimental Football League have named a handful of staff members. Per source, John Jenkins will serve as the head coach and will be accompanied by Rod Rust (assistant head coach), Howard Tippet (defensive coordinator), Raefe Jenkins (special teams coordinator), Wayne Anderson (offensive line), Don Wnek (defensive line), and Hal Dyer (defensive backs).

ULL: The NCAA has accused former Louisiana Lafayette assistant David Saunders of four recruiting violations. Saunders abruptly resigned in early November 2014. The Lafayette Daily Advertiser reports that the NCAA interviewed Mark Hudspeth, Reed Stringer and Tim Rebowe extensively and the NCAA “does not think Hudspeth [or staff members other than Saunders] had any knowledge of what allegedly was taking place”.
USC: Steve Sarkisian has been placed on an indefinite leave of absence by AD Pat Haden. Clay Helton will serve as interim head coach. Here’s an update.
Maryland: Randy Edsall has been fired the school has announced. Maryland will owe Edsall $2.6 million as part of his buyout. Our story from earlier in the week when it was revealed this was going to happen. Mike Locksley will serve as interim head coach. Outside linebackers coach Lyndon Johnson has also been let go. USA Today’s Steve Berkowitz reports that Edsall will receive $3.1 million for his buyout.
North Texas: North Texas has decided that offensive coordinator Mike Canales will now serve as the lone interim head coach, per Brett McMurphy. Last night, AD Rick Villarreal told the team and the staff that Canales and defensive coordinator Chris Cosh would serve as interim co-head coaches.
Sean Payton: Adam Schefter, Jason LaCanfora and seemingly every NFL reporter is chatting this morning about the plethora of NFL teams that might inquire about Sean Payton’s availability after this season. The Dolphins and Colts were specifically mentioned; but “others could be in play too”. With the Saints, Payton is already one of the highest paid coaches in the league. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.
North Texas: Following their loss to Portland State last night, athletic director Rick Villarreal fired Dan McCarney.

Miami: Speaking before tonight’s game at Florida State, Miami AD Blake James indicated that any decision on Al Golden’s future with the program would be made following the season. “As I said from the start, we’ll look at everything at the end of the year and make an evaluation. Again, I think the thing you have to look at is if you lose tonight how many games do you have left? [What if] you win all the rest of your games? That’s why you always have to evaluate at the end of the year.”
North Texas: Head coach Dan McCarney has been relieved of his duties, per AD Rick Villarrel. Sources tell FootballScoop that offensive coordinator Mike Canales and defensive coordinator Chris Cosh will serve as co-interim head coaches. Alrighty then.
Louisiana Tech: The salary pool for the assistant coaches has been elevated to an all-time high of $1.05 million, according to The News Star. In 2014 the salary pool was $999,700. The new salaries for the staff are as follows; DL coach Rick Petri ($120k), offensive line coach Robert McFarland ($120k), safeties coach Karl Scott ($70k), inside WRs coach Joe Sloan ($90k), outside receivers coach Tim Rattay ($90k), special teams coordinator / corners coach Ronnie Bradford ($110k), RBs coach Jabbar Juluke ($110k), and defensive coordinator Blake Baker ($140k). Strength coach Kurt Hester received a bump from $70k to just under $98k and offensive coordinator Tony Petersen was the only returning coach to not receive a pay bump, so his salary remains at $200k.

App State: Head coach Scott Satterfield has agreed to a new five year contract the school has announced. Satterfield will now be under contract through December 2020.
Notre Dame: Pat Eilers (a two-year starter for the Irish) and his wife Jana have made a $3 million gift to endow the defensive backs coaching position. The gift will “will underwrite the salary of the defensive backs assistant coach, provide stability and resources for the long term and create funds for use within the department and across campus,” a release from ND explained.
Black Hills State (D-II – SD): Black Hills State University has a graduate assistant coaching position beginning January 11th, 2016. The position includes a stipend and reduced tuition. Responsibilities include coaching a defensive position, film breakdown and data entry (HUDL), recruiting, and other duties assigned by the head football coach and athletic director. The ideal candidate would have a minimum 1 year coaching experience or collegiate playing experience. Candidates must be able to gain acceptance to graduate school.
