Sunday November 19, 2017

Arkansas Pine Bluff (FCS): Source tells FootballScoop, head coach Monte Coleman will not return. Coach Coleman just completed his 10th season as head coach. The 2012 season was a highlight when his squad won 10 games including the SWAC Championship. Recent years have been a challenge though, only winning a combined 5 games in the last three seasons.

Chip Kelly: Earlier today multiple sources told FootballScoop UCLA representatives were scheduled to meet with Chip Kelly tomorrow. Florida officials met with him today. Tonight a separate source tells us Chip is not flying to Florida just yet…. Update> Robbie Andreu who covers the Gators just confirmed publicly Florida officials are flying back to Florida tonight without Chip and without a deal in place.

Delaware State (FCS): Head coach Kenny Carter’s contract (which expires in January) will not be renewed. In three seasons, Carter’s Hornets won 3 games. Director of player development / defensive line coach E.J. Junior will serve as interim head coach while the University seeks a new head coach.

Florida: Sources tell FootballScoop, Florida is advancing discussions with Chip Kelly. Stay tuned…

Delaware State: Athletic director Skip Perkins and the school have parted ways and senior associate AD for internal operations / senior woman administrator Mary Hall has been tabbed as the interim leader of the athletic program.

Alabama A&M (FCS): Head coach James Spady has been let go. In making the announcement, AD Bryan Hicks added, they will be “making a personnel decision in the immediate future.”

UCLA: Head coach Jim Mora has been let go, the school has announced. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. AD Dan Guerrero announced a national search will begin immediately with support from Casey Wasserman and Troy Aikman. Read more about the decision & candidates here. UCLA announced they will honor the terms of his buyout (over $12 million), paying for it “exclusively with department generated funds”. Today is Jim’s birthday.

Michigan: After referring to rumors of Jim Harbaugh leaving for the NFL on the set of College GameDay yesterday, Kirk Herbstreit took to Twitter to clarify, tweeting; “To be clear…I wasn’t suggesting on @CollegeGameDay this am that Jim Harbuagh is leaving UM but how many different rumored scenarios are out there. Personally hope he stays in AA till he retires. Think it’s GREAT he’s back home. Sorry for any misunderstanding.”

New Orleans Saints: The Advocate is reporting that assistant GM Jeff Ireland has recently received a contract extension, noting that it’s not clear when the deal was reached and that the deal would also not stop teams from reaching out to him about general manager openings.

Ole Miss: Ole Miss offered their head coaching position to Oregon head coach Willie Taggart according to a report from a collection of writers at SB Nation. The report says Taggart turned the Rebels down. Update> SB Nation updated their article to say Taggart has not been offered the job. They now report Ole Miss has interest in Taggart, Mike Norvell & Charlie Strong.

Oregon: The same SB Nation article referenced above adds that although Taggart turned down the Ole Miss job he does “hope to land a job in the Southeast”. [Reminder, Taggart has been at Oregon less than a year.] A while back we wrote about Taggart’s buyoutUpdate> SB Nation has removed the reference to Taggart looking to leave Oregon from their article.

Oregon State: Cal offensive coordinator Beau Baldwin and Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall are “person(s) of interest” in the Oregon State search, according to John Canzano of The Oregonian.
