Rutgers: John McNulty signed a three-year deal worth $1.875 million before incentives kick in, according to NJ.com. The report notes that McNulty will make $600k in 2018, followed by an increase to $625k in 2019, and $650k in 2020. The deal includes a buyout of $200k in the first year, which drops to $30k on February 28, 2019 and if Rutgers were to fire him without cause, the school would pay out the remainder of his contract and would be offset by future employment.
Arizona: At his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Kevin Sumlin explained why he chose to jump back into coaching so soon after his Texas A&M firing.

New Mexico: Sources tell FootballScoop Bob Davie has made a couple of hires on the defensive side of the ball. Per sources, Archie McDaniel (previously linebackers coach at SMU) will coach outside linebackers and Perry Eliano (previously defensive coordinator at Bowling Green) will coach corners.
Syracuse: Mike Cavanaugh, who spent last season coaching the offensive line at Nebraska, has been officially named offensive line coach. The school’s official announcement notes that the addition of a future 10th assistant will give Dino Babers the opportunity to “restructure duties to maximize the strengths of each coach.” It’s also noted that the responsibilities for co-offensive coordinator Mike Lynch, who coached the offensive line the past two seasons, has not yet been determined.
Louisiana-Monroe: After two seasons as the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks / wide receivers coach at Jones County CC (JC – MS), John Carr has joined the staff as wide receivers coach, the Hattiesburg American notes.
Montana Western (NAIA): Per source, the wide receiver intern position has been filled at Montana Western and they are no longer accepting resumes. Thanks for the overwhelming interest.
Texas: Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand is joining the Longhorns staff as co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach. We can confirm the move which Brett McMurphy first reported.
Arizona Cardinals: Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo remains a “strong candidate” for the Cardinals head coaching job, and is expected to get a second interview, Jeremy Fowler tweets.
Washington: Jimmy Lake “turned down DC jobs at Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State as well as Arizona State” tweets Seattle radio man Dave Mahler.
Atlanta Falcons: Ian Rapoport tweets that “(if it’s even a question) Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is expected to return for 2018 with full confidence of Dan Quinn and his staff.”

NCAA: Discussions on changing the transfer eligibility rules have been pushed back to 2019, according to a tweet from Adam Zagoria of the New York Times. AFCA executive director Todd Berry came out against changing these rules at the convention last week.
Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons are considering changes to their offensive staff and former UCLA offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch is interviewing for the quarterbacks job, per a tweet from Jason La Canfora.
Nick Saban: Coach Saban, Ken Whisenhunt and three businessmen bought in to the ownership group of the Waterfall Club, a golf club near Saban’s lake home on Lake Burton in northeast Georgia. Not real sure Nick had a hard time getting his preferred tee times in the past; but real confident he’s not having any issues now.
Arizona: Kevin Sumlin shared at his presser that he told the team at their meeting this morning that defensive coordinator Marcel Yates is in fact returning to lead the defense next season.
Pittsburgh Steelers: PFT reports that “some of the team’s limited partners intent to lobby owner Art Rooney to fire Mike Tomlin and hire a new head coach.” Tomlin led the Steelers to a 13-3 finish last year with a loss to the Jaguars in the AFC Divisional game and is 116-60 overall since taking over the franchise in 2007.
Coahoma CC (JC – MS): Per source, Carroll (NAIA – MT) running backs coach Chris Riley has accepted the running backs and recruiting coordinator job, per source.

Humboldt State (D-II): Per source, offensive line coach Cory White has been named interim head coach.
Washington: Bruce Feldman tweets that Pete Kwiatkowki will go from defensive coordinator to co-defensive coordinator and that secondary coach Jimmy Lake is being elevated to defensive coordinator, and will defensive play-caller.
Arizona: Kevin Sumlin’s deal is for 5-years, worth $14.5 million total. His initial base pay is $2 million per year for the first two years of the deal, and that increases to $3.5 million per year in years 3-5.
Kansas State: The additions of Zach Hanson (TEs) and Eric Hickson (RBs) have now been formally announced.
Benedictine (D-III – IL): After announcing that they would explore a move to Division II back in April of last year, Benedictine’s board of trustees has now approved the school’s application and the NCAA will now consider Benedictine’s candidacy to move to the Division II ranks, according to D3Sports.com. The Great Lakes Valley Conference is sponsoring Benedictine’s candidacy.
Minnesota: Former Rutgers defensive coordinator Joe Rossi is being promoted to fill Minnesota’s 10th assistant position sources tell FootballScoop. Rossi joined the staff before this past season as defensive quality control. We understand he will work with the defensive line. Current defensive line coach Bryce Paup is adding “pass rush specialist” title.
Arkansas Pine Bluff (FCS): Per source, special teams coordinator / tight ends coach Thomas Sheffield has been retained by new head coach Cedric Thomas. We understand Sheffield will continue to coach the tight ends and coordinate the special teams.
Cleveland Browns: Former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo is interviewing for the Browns offensive coordinator job today, Mary Kay Cabot tweets.
Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals are putting in second interview requests today for their head coaching job and Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak is expected to receive a second interview according to a tweet from Ian Rapoport.
Faulkner (NAIA – AL): Source tells FootballScoop former long-time Troy assistant Shayne Wasden is expected to be the new head coach at Faulkner. Wasden served as Larry Blakeney’s associate head coach at Troy and continued to assist Neal Brown’s staff thereafter.
Montreal Alouettes (CFL): After four seasons leading the Concordia Stingers in Canada head coach Mickey Donovan is leaving to become the special teams coordinator for the Alouettes.

Alabama: Barrett Sallee reports that Hugh Freeze’s interest in joining Nick Saban’s staff is “not necessarily exclusive to the offensive coordinator position.” Last night (scroll down), a report surfaced that Freeze was visiting the Alabama facilities.
UCF: Per source, Maryland offensive line graduate assistant Micah James has left for the same role at UCF.
Alabama: Aaron Suttles, who covers Alabama football for the Tuscaloosa News, noted on the Cube Show this morning, “I think we will see co-defensive coordinators at Alabama this fall.”
Lane College (D-II – TN): Jacoby Jones, a nine year veteran wide receiver of the NFL, has joined the staff, per source.
Reedley (JC – CA): Reedley College has an immediate opening on staff for DB or WR coach. Must have a AA or BA and the required years of experience. An masters in physical education or kinesiology is ideal. This is a stipend position (6-12k depending on experience) with no additional benefits. Housing may be a possibility. Independence CC (JC – KS): Independence Community College is looking for an assistant Offensive Line/TE coach and assistant Defensive Line/DE’s coach. These are unpaid positions with no salary, but does include free housing and meals along with a great opportunity. The ideal candidates are someone who played College football, preferably Junior College and someone who is single and looking to get his foot in the College game.
