McMurry: Head coach Hal Mumme has added former New Mexico State defensive GA Chris Ruybal to his new staff.  We hear Ruybal will coach the linebackers.

University of Penn: Former Rhode Island quarterbacks / wide receivers coach Mark Fabish has just joined the staff at Penn as tight ends coach.  Fabish is a former Penn player. 

South Alabama: The Strength and Conditioning staff at the University of South Alabama would like to  invite you to the first University of South Alabama Strength and Conditioning Camp on May 23, 2009.  This one-day seminar will provide you with information on different styles of training and how to incorporate them into your program.  Founder of Westside Barbell, Louie Simmons, will be speaking on several different aspects of training, including implementation of conjugate periodization, importance of max effort training, the box squat as it pertains to power development, and speed-strength/strength speed development.  The Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at Mississippi State University, Erik Korem, will be speaking on linear speed development.  To conclude the day, the University of South Alabama's Head Football Strength and Conditioning coach, Justin Schwind, will be speaking on the importance of incorporating competition into your off-season program.  The schedule will consist of:

  • Registration from 8am to 8:30

  • Morning session from 8:30-12pm

  • Lunch from 12-1:15

  • Afternoon session from 1:15-4:45

  • Conclude the day with a Q&A session from 4:45-5pm.

Texas Tech: Former Red Raider quarterback Sonny Cumbie has accepted a grad assistant position at his alma mater. 

Trinity University: Defensive Assistant Coach of Football (Defensive Line).  The position is a full-time, ten month contract staff appointment beginning August 1, 2009.  Duties include planning and implementing all activities for the defensive team for practice and games, recruiting, second assignment in the Dept. of Athletics, and teaching an activity class for the Dept. of P.E.  Compensation will be approximately $18,000 and includes full benefits.  The position reports to Head Coach of Football. Qualifications include baccalaureate degree and 3 years of college coaching experience in the sport of football.  Letter of application, resume and three names of references are required for consideration. Manchester College: Assistant Football Coach (Defensive Coordinator) and Instructor of Exercise and Sports Sciences (ESS) Responsibilities: Coordinate the entire defense and manage/supervise defensive coaches. Coordinator entire strength and conditioning program for the athletic department. Teach eight (8) hours in Exercise Science curriculum at the direction of the Department Chair. Defiance College: Our sources tell us that Alex Bailey has been promoted from his grad assistant position to full-time wide receivers coach. 

San Francisco (UFL): We hear head coach Denny Green has just about completed his staff.  Former Central Florida head coach Mike Kruczek has joined the staff at offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach.  We hear Charles Collins will serve as the wide receivers coach. Trent Walters will serve as the defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach.  We hear Trent Bray will coach the linebackers and former Arizona Cardinals defensive line coach Larry Brooks will coach the defensive line.   As we reported earlier, Art Kehoe is the new offensive line coach.  Tyrone Willingham will coach the special teams & running backs.

Kansas City Chiefs: Executive VP and Chief Operating Office, Denny Thum, has been promoted to President of the Kansas City Chiefs organization.  Thum has served on staff for 36 years with the Chiefs.

Indianapolis Colts: With the tough economic times, the Colts have parted ways with several members in the scouting department including player personnel adviser Dom Anile.  Reportedly, offensive coordinator Tom Moore is considering retirement.  Just last week, offensive line coach Howard Mudd decided to call it a career.

South Grand Prairie HS (TX): Former Bethany College (KS) head coach Tony Johnson has accepted a coaching position on the staff at South Grand Prairie HS (TX).  Johnson has most recently served as the head coach at Wichita South HS.
