A panel of coaches including previous recipients will determine the the 2010 winners. Votes tallied on this page are considered; however a panel of coaches make the final decision.  Voting for this award ends on Thursday December 16th.

Gerry Capone
Mike Kerin
Mike Sinquefield
Virginia West Virginia TCU

Gerry Capone – University of Virginia

Gerry Capone (Associate Director of Athletics – Football Administration) is in his 29th season as part of UVA football. In nominating Gerry, a DFO who has spent time in the ACC as well as the Big East told FootballScoop, “Gerry has seen coaches come and go. The leadership of the university knows that Gerry is part of the heart of that football program. I don’t know that there is a guy in the profession that is respected, almost admired, more by his administration.”

Mike Kerin – West Virginia University

In nominating Mike Kerin, a DFO told FootballScoop, “I met Mike a few years ago at a meeting of DFOs. He’s a very approachable guy (actually he’s pretty funny). I have communicated him a number of times since to get his thoughts on things and he always seems to have great ideas.” Mike has been part of WVU football since 1980. FootballScoop recently had the opportunity to speak with head coach Bill Stewart about Mike, his response was very serious and direct, “Mike is the best.” In 2008, WVU promoted Mike to Assistant Athletic Director.

Mike Sinquefield – TCU

“Sinq” is in his tenth year at TCU where he serves as the Director of Football Operations. In nominating Mike, a fellow DFO in the Mountain West conference said, “Mike might not have been doing this as long as some other guys; but he is always the first guy I call when I’m trying to figure out the best way to solve a problem. He gives me great advice and he’s always extremely willing to share and help other guys out.” Another DFO from Conference USA noted that , “Mike must spend a huge amount of his time helping other guys out, because every other DFO I speak with mentions something about, ‘Mike Sinquefield helped me with that’ or ‘I got that from Mike at TCU’.” Head coach Gary Patterson told FootballScoop, “Mike is one of the best guys I’ve ever worked with.”
