Sure, why not?
A Southern Miss football season quite unlike any other for any team in recent memory, COVID-19 aside, is going to wrap up in similarly odd fashion.
Conference-USA announced Wednesday that the Golden Eagles will play their two makeup games, at UTEP and home against Florida Atlantic University, in a five-day span in December.
Southern Miss now visits UTEP on Saturday, Dec. 5, and then concludes the regular season with a Thursday evening game Dec. 10 against the Owls. Kick-off for that contest has been set at 6:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by CBS Sports.
Both contests were initially postponed due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
The Golden Eagles also are on their interim, interim coach, Tim Billings, after parting ways with Jay Hopson after the season's opening loss against South Alabama and seeing interim Scotty Walden last week accept the job at Austin Peay, an FCS playoff team in 2019 and Ohio Valley Conference champion.
C-USA took Wednesday to announce of the league's COVID-19-impacted schedule changes -- to this point. FIU will play at Charloote, noon, on Dec. 5; Marshall then will play at FIU on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports; UAB is at Rice and North Texas is at UTEP on Dec. 12. Those games will kick at a time to be determined.
