Back in early August, Ashley Adameitz, a senior cheerleader at Foothill HS (Palo Cedro, CA), was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Ever since, she has been going to daily chemotherapy treatments to battle the cancer.
Well last week, on their way out to the field for their game, as they walked through a tunnel of cheerleaders, every single member of the Foothill HS football team laid an orange rose at Ashley's feet in a touching moment of support for the teen. By the time each player passed by Ashley, 57 orange roses laid at her feet, and her reaction during each one of them is priceless.
According to KRCRTV, the plan was organized by senior football player Ryan Caetano, and the entire team got behind the idea. Orange was chosen as the color of the roses because it is the designated color for leukemia awareness.
In the first 24 hours of posting the clip, the video had been viewed over 5.5 million times, and the video has really caught fire again on social media in the last 24 hours.
I tip my cap to the coaches and players that made this happen. Very, very thoughtful gesture during a time when no one would have batted an eye if they'd have just run out onto the field and played the game as they did every week before. Bravo fellas.
