Ohio State was one of just two Big Ten programs who had a pair of running backs go over the 1,000 yard mark with Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson both eclipsing the century mark on the ground during their national title run.
While the Buckeyes replaced offensive coordinator Chip Kelly by promoting receivers coach and elite recruiter and developer Brian Hartline, they return running backs coach Carlos Locklyn, who was instrumental to the success and physical mindset in the Buckeyes running back room.
We've all heard that your team or position group is an extension of you, but Locklyn put it a bit different after he was asked about his "intense" approach during practice yesterday. Locklyn responded with a quote that cut to the heart of every parent and coach who reads it.
"Be intentional about what you're working on. So I've got to be intentional about what I'm pouring into them, because everything starts with me."
"They're going to take on my mindset, and if I come out here with lukewarm enthusiasm, they're going to be the same way. I don't coach that way. Everyday I come out here, I attack this field. That's whether I'm feeling well, or I'm sick, coach Hartline told me they're going to feed off my personality.
"So I always tell people all the time, if your kids are soft, you're soft. Go look in the mirror."
