Sources: Eddie George's Bowling Green staff beginning to take shape (Bowling Green Coaching Staff)

As many as five members of Eddie George's 2024 Tennessee State coaching staff could be joining George at Bowling Green, the FBS program in the Mid-America Conference that hired George atop the program earlier this month.

Tuesday afternoon, sources told FootballScoop that George was expected to add a trio of defensive assistant coaches from his final Tennessee State staff aboard his inaugural Bowling Green staff.

Per sources, those coaches expected to join George with the Falcons are: Joe Bowden, TSU's associate head coach and linebackers coach; defensive backs coach Richard McNutt and defensive line coach Clyde Simmons.

Additionally, sources shared with FootballScoop, George also was positioned to potentially bring both his former coordinators from Tennessee State: defensive coordinator Brandon Fisher, the son of George's former NFL coach Jeff Fisher and a staple on his TSU staffs, as well as offensive coordinator Travis Partridge.

Partridge arrived at TSU last spring after he had served on the UT Martin staff of Jason Simpson and after George's initial hire at offensive coordinator, Tyler Roehl, departed for a Power Conference assistant coaching post on Matt Campbell's Iowa State staff. Partridge's status, per sources, wasn't as close to being finalized as those of the defensive coaches.

Roehl earlier this year was hired into the NFL by the Detroit Lions.

George in the not-quite two weeks he's been on the job at Bowling Green has largely overhauled the Falcons staff, retaining only a couple assistant coaches from previous head man Scot Loeffler's staff and, as FootballScoop first reported earlier this week, retaining the Bowling Green strength staff.

Of those TSU staffers expected to join George at Bowling Green, Bowden had been at Tennessee State since spring 2021 and also had NFL coaching experience prior to his arrival in Nashville. Simmons had a long NFL playing career, primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles, and also has more than a decade of coaching experience.

Like George, McNutt is an Ohio State alum with Power Conference and NFL coaching experience.
