Update on Eddie George's Bowling Green staff (Bowling Green Coaching Staff)

A week into his new job atop the Bowling Green football program, Eddie George is continuing his overhaul of the Falcons coaching staff.

After initially parting with multiple defensive assistant coaches, George -- an icon in Ohio for his star collegiate turn at Ohio State including a Heisman Trophy -- is continuing to separate from several assistants initially returning under Scot Loeffler.

George is the new head coach following Loeffler's exit for the NFL, now coaching quarterbacks for the Philadelphia Eagles and Nick Sirianni.

Sources with direct knowledge tell FootballScoop that, as of Sunday afternoon, George is retaining co-offensive coordinator Greg Nosal, defensive pass game coordinator Derrick Jackson and Alex Bayer, the special teams coordinator also in charge of tight ends.

Brian White's the returning running backs coach, and his future is a bit less clear though sources indicate White is in position to return to George's inaugural Bowling Green staff but perhaps in a different capacity.

Additionally, as of Sunday, head strength and conditioning coach Chris Fenelon remains on staff. Scott Holsopple, Tennessee State's director of sports performance, has been a staple on George's staff since May 2021.

Quality control coaches Grant Strock, Jack McCarthy and Charlie Brewer remain on staff as of now, per Bowling Green's website.

Dusty Bennett's a crucial, right-hand man for George, serving as both Tennessee State's chief of staff for football and deputy athletic director. His status moving forward is worth monitoring for both Bowling Green and Tennessee State.

Steve Morrison departs Bowling Green after six seasons on the Falcons staff, including strong work the past two seasons as the program's defensive coordinator, play-caller and integral component working with linebackers.

BG had the Mid-America Conference's No. 4 scoring defense in 2024.

George returns to Ohio for his first-ever FBS coaching job following his successful rebuild of the Tennessee State program, including 15 wins the past two seasons and a spot in the 2024 FCS Playoffs.

The Falcons, coming off an 7-6 season in Loeffler's last campaign, open their 2025 season Aug. 28 at home against FCS program Lafayette before a trio of daunting non-conference games at Cincinnati (Sept. 6) and Louisville (Sept. 20) with a home date against Liberty (Sept. 13) sandwiched in-between.
