As veteran leader Danny Rocco seeks to turn around the VMI football program and find similar success to some of his previous head coaching stops, he's finalized his coaching staff for the 2025 season, FootballScoop has learned.
Rocco will have AJ Hampton as his offensive coordinator and Rich Yahner as defensive coordinator.
Greg Wood, meanwhile, will wear three key hats: special teams coordinator, director of player personnel and video coordinator.
Elsewhere, Patrick Ashford has been tabbed as VMI's special situations and money down coordinator while veteran Elliott Wratten coaches the offensive line and serves as running game coordinator.
Greg Meyer is the assistant head coach working with quarterbacks while Keith Jones coaches tight ends and oversees recruiting.
Elsewhere, JB Lagemen is the defensive run game coordinator and D-line coach; Dae'lun Darien coaches linebackers.
Patrick Brown is in charge of defensive backs and the team's pass game coordinator.
Ellis Spratlin is both the team's chief of staff and strength coach. Phil Shapiro is a volunteer coach on the defensive side of the ball.
Peter Capone continues his work at VMI in an expanded role as both director of football operations, the first full-time DFO hired by VMI, and also as director of player development.
Rocco posted a competitive, five-win season in 2023 -- his first at the helm for the Keydets -- but saw the program dip to 1-11 last fall.
The Keydets open their 2025 season Aug. 30 at Navy.
