Nick Saban's latest investment involves a stake in pro sports team (Nick Saban)

According to Forbes, Nick Saban made about $150 million during his five-decade run as one of the top coaches the game of football has ever seen. That's just accounting for his contract earnings as a head coach and doesn't take into account the additional wealth he's made through endorsements, and other investments he's made over the years along with his other various business interests.

Saban, who now makes $500,000 annually in an advisory role with Alabama and spends his weekdays prepping for his analyst job with ESPN's College GameDay on Saturdays, has a well-known partnership already with Dream Motor Group, one of the fastest growing luxury auto dealers in the southeastern region of the country with 10 dealerships in across a number of states.

Now, Saban and his business partner are adding a professional sports team to their expansive portfolio.

Saban and Joe Agresti, who control Dream Sports Ventures LLC together with Agresti listed as CEO, recently closed on a deal to become minority stake owners with the Nashville Predators of the NHL

"Although I am now retired as a coach, I still possess a competitive nature and a great passion for sports," Saban shared after the news became official. "Being involved in a sports team in Nashville has always been a goal and the opportunity to partner in the Predators with a class act like Bill Haslam created the perfect scenario for us."

Bill Haslam, a former two-time governor for the state of Tennessee, took over as Predators chairman in July 2024, and became a majority owner of the franchise a year later, in July earlier this year.

Saban, the seven-time national champion, has won everywhere he's coached and Haslam is hoping some of that can rub off on the Predators organization, which has struggled mightily this NHL season. The Nashville-based franchise is currently in last place in the Central Division of the Western Conference and currently sit at 13-15 on the year.

"I am really looking forward to having Coach Nick Saban and Joe Agresti as a part of our ownership group. Coach is one of the all-time greats in college football history and one of the winningest coaches in all of sports. We are excited to have him join us in our pursuit of championships on the ice in Nashville," Haslam shared of the news.
