The Tennessee Titans reached a deal with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to be their next head coach late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, per multiple reports.
Saleh will get a 5-year deal in Tennessee.
The move is somewhat surprising in that the Titans went with a defensive-minded head coach to pair with the No. 1 pick in last year's draft, quarterback Cam Ward.
Saleh was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2021-24, going 20-36. He has experience coaching against the Titans from his years as a young coach with the Houston Texans (2005-10) and as the Jacksonville Jaguars linebackers coach (2014-16).
Saleh's departure Kyle Shanahan's 49ers will have their fifth defensive coordinator in as many seasons next fall. Offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak has also gotten interviews for head coaching positions as well.
