Source: Boston College set to land veteran defensive line coach (Boston College Football)

Bill O'Brien continues his retooling of his staff at Boston College following a disappointing two-win season.

Sources tell FootballScoop Bill O'Brien is set to fill an opening on his staff with veteran defensive line coach Ben Albert, who brings coordinator experience in his return to Chestnut Hill. ESPN is reporting the same.

The position marks a return for Albert, who previously spent three seasons with the program in the same capacity from 2013-16 before leaving to become the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Duke for five seasons under David Cutcliffe.

After Cutfliffe and Duke mutually agreed to part ways after the 2021 season, Albert landed on Don Brown's staff at UMass as assistant head coach/special teams coordinator/defensive line coach.

Previous stops for college stops for Albert include Temple, where he coached the outside linebackers, as well as Rutgers, Richmond and Delaware. He also spent one season in the NFL as the assistant defensive line coach for the Jaguars from 2010-11.

He fills the role vacated by Jordan Thomas' departure to Illinois, where he accepted the defensive line/run game coordinator position.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
