Allan Holland, Jr., has stepped down as head coach at the University of Pikeville, the coach announced Wednesday.
Pikeville, better known as UPike, is an NAIA school in Pikeville, Ky., near the Virginia/West Virginia borders.
"It has truly been my honor to have been given the opportunity to teach, mentor, champion and coach hundreds of UPIKe young men," Holland said in his public resignation letter. "I want to thank every player I have been fortunate to coach during my time here at UPIKE. It has been a true blessing and I'm extremely appreciative of how you have represented the program and yourself. We have shared a lot of special memories together and I have enjoyed watching you guys grow into the men you are today."
Holland spent 11 years at UPike, the final seven as head coach. His 35 wins stand as a school record.
An Eastern Kentucky graduate, Holland began coaching as a graduate assistant and quarterbacks coach at his alma mater before coming to Pikeville.
