Arizona State and Cal are getting their own version of 'Hard Knocks'

Finally, one of the best things the NFL does is coming to college football. A dozen years after Hard Knocks hit HBO, Pac-12 Networks is finally giving the college game its own version.

"But, what about All-Access?" you ask. The ESPN show, which debuted in 2010 and features Penn State this year, airs a one-hour special and five half-hour episodes. While three and a half hours is certainly much better than nothing, we want more. Thankfully, Pac-12 Networks is stepping up to the plate.

Hitting the airwaves August 11, The Drive will feature both Arizona State and Cal will air each Wednesday night with a one hour premier, followed by 13 half-hour installments. (For the record, Hard Knocks airs in five one-hour episodes and ends after training camp.) The show will follow both programs from the first day of fall camp through the end of the regular season, and promises to give a behind-the-curtain look at practices, game day, road trips and off-the-field goings on of players, coaches and support staff.

Now if only we had Pac-12 Networks.
