Arkansas defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach Willy Robinson met with reporters after practice on Monday.
Robinson seemed really pleased that Petrino decided to go with split practices early on to help the young guys get more reps.
The heat in Fayetteville has been rough though, and Robinson admitted he would like to see a little bit more leadership with pushing through the process.
Robinson said, “Probably hearing too much of the coaches urging it (avoid dragging). We had that break (during practice), it seems like the players took it over. We’re still not quite there where it’s not the coaches urging. We’re still not there yet where the players say ‘Let’s pick it up.’ We don’t need one guy to drag the rest down. Pretty soon you’d like to see your leadership say, ‘Hey coach, we got this now. Don’t worry about it. We’ll take care of it.’ We’re not there yet. I think right now they are fighting through that and trying to understand that’s what we want them to do and we need them to do.”
