Chip ain't buying what Lane's selling
We're not sure this will surprise anyone; but since we showed Lane Kiffin's interview from yesterday we figured we'd follow that up with Chip Kelly's thoughts.
Yesterday, Lane spent a few minutes talking about Robert Woods inability to run by his service team corners and basically said that Woods might not be able to go. Kiffin said Woods was "going in the wrong direction" in terms of healing and Kiffin chose to sit Woods down rather than have him practice. Basically called it a game time decision.
Kelly heard those words and responded. "He's playing."
"He's playing, I can tell you that right now...I love that kid, he's a competitor. He's playing."
However, as defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti reminded everyone, even "if Robert Woods isn't able to go, the next guy who is there isn't all bad." Yes, USC has some talent at wide receiver.
As for the outcome of the game, we're not making any predictions; but we noticed that Chip Kelly has never lost at Autzen as head coach. How much would Lane enjoy being the first coach to beat Kelly there?
Kelly added his own zinger as well. Yesterday Kiffin noted that he's more open with the media that Kelly is particularly with regards to injuries. Today, Kelly agreed that Kiffin is more open with the media, "But, I'm $10,000 better with the refs!"
