Chris Spielman, a two-time All-American linebacker in the late 1980’s at Ohio State, offered some interesting comments regarding Jim Tressel this morning on ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning.
Spielman said, “I think he should have done it (resign) a long time ago. He tried to help these kids, ultimately he hurt them even more.”
According to Spielman, Jim Tressel’s major mistake came at the initial press conference.
Spielman said, “I would have said, ‘I own this. I am totally responsible.’”
He added, “A couple of weeks ago during a speech, I said I don’t think Jim Tressel is going to be the coach next year. Some people are upset because they think everybody does it. That’s not an excuse.”
What’s next for the Buckeyes?
“Now, you either fight or go in the corner and cry. That’s what we are left with.”
“He (Luke Fickell) is a pure warrior. Does he have a shot? I don’t know. Maybe if he wins 11 games. I think the probation will be ‘USC plus some.’”
“Another name I would pursue, it may be a long shot, but Tony Dungy.”
