Curtis Johnson will be named the new head coach today. We also expect Tulane to announce that they have received enough commitments from donors to move forward with plans to build a new stadium on campus.
Johnson, the wide receivers coach with the Saints, has been with New Orleans (his hometown) since Sean Payton was hired.
In the late 80s and early 90s Johnson was an assistant at San Diego State. He went on to coach at Miami during their run (including 9 bowl games and 1 national championship while he was on staff).
While working at the collegiate level, Johnson was known as a talented recruiter, especially when it came to the New Orleans area.
Throughout Tulane's search, Sean Payton gave several public recommendations for Johnson.
We'll keep you posted as the day unfolds.
