In an unlikely move, Tulane University offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Dan Dodd has resigned to accept the head coaching job at Capistrano Valley Christian School in California.

FootballScoop received word of the story early Tuesday evening.

Dodd, who also served as the assistant head coach for the Green Wave, is originally from San Clemente, California. He joined the Tulane staff under Bob Toledo after nine years at New Mexico.

Located in San Juan (CA), Capistrano Valley Christian competes at the 8-man football level. Here is a photo of the 2010 squad. Dodd will also serve as the athletic director.

The move leaves Tulane fifth year head coach Bob Toledo without an offensive coordinator and play caller heading into the summer.

The Green Wave offensive staff includes Greg Davis Jr (running backs), Thomas Woods (wide receivers), Doug Lichtenberger (tight ends / recruiting coordinator), and Mark Hutson (offensive line).
