If it's solely up to Derek Dooley, this Friday nights game against North Carolina State will be the last Friday night game of its kind for the Vols.
“Hopefully once this passes we won’t have this scenario again.” Dooley explained on the SEC teleconference this morning.
Overall, the game doesn't change their preparation but does effect Vol nation in other ways.
"From a preparation standpoint, we just count the clock backwards. When it’s Sunday, it’s Monday. We treat it as a Saturday game from our game-week preparation."
“What does change is how it affects fans and high schools. It’s not something you want to do every year.”
The Vols have spent all week practicing on the indoor turf in order to cut down the acclimation time to the Georgia Dome playing surface.
“The reasons are two-fold. It’s being inside, but it’s also being on a surface that’s similar to what you’re going to get in the Georgia Dome. You never get fully adjusted to the dome environment until you get in there.”
