Southern Miss head coach Larry Fedora has demoted his top player, DeAndre Brown.
The junior wide receiver, Brown, was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list on Tuesday. For now, he'll be running with the 2's.
Fedora told the Clarion-Ledger newspaper, "He's got to practice and he's got to do all the things on and off the field to show he needs to be out there at all times. That's the way it is at every position that's out there. He's got to do it."
"We ask these guys to practice a certain way every day no matter what you feel or what you think. There is no gamer in our deal. There's no guy that's not going to do it on the practice field and get the opportunity to do it in the game. That's not the way it's going to work. The team is what's most important and everybody is going to do it the way we want it."
Southern Miss travels to South Carolina to open the college football season on Thursday, September 2nd.
