Mary Hardin-Baylor opened brand new Cru Stadium in big-time fashion on Saturday.

Let’s start with what matters most – the game. The fourth-ranked Cru blasted No. 5 Wesley College, 35-7, by jumping out to a five-touchdown lead through three quarters and owning a 461-105 yardage advantage.

As impressive as Mary Hardin-Baylor was on the field, it was the surrounding atmosphere that really knocked our socks off.

Every on of the 9,384 seats was filled with a person screaming his or her vocal chords raw. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony, a flyover and a post-game fireworks show. Wait, what? A flyover and a fireworks show at a Division III game? Does anyone ever recall that happening before?

All in all, it was a banner night for the second-best college football program in the state of Texas (check today’s list of the top ten programs in Ohio). This video is basically a three-minute postcard for how football is done right at the small college level.
