Since 2005, the Oklahoma quarterbacks have been tutored by Josh Heupel, the former 2000 AP Player of the Year.
Bob Stoops, Kevin Wilson, and OU quarterback Landry Jones complimented Heupel in this morning’s Tulsa World newspaper.
Bob Stoops says, "You have to really look at Josh. He's done an amazing job with these guys."
Sooners’ offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson says, "Credit his upbringing, his nature, the way God made him. But also, strong credit to Josh. Josh goes one-on-one with him, looks him in the eyes and gives him a sense. Josh has really worked hard, without trying to make him become phony ... to maybe enhance his role as a leader. Not some win-one-for-the-Gipper speech, but to me, there's a way you look, a way you act, where everybody knows: 'This guy's got it.'?"
OU quarterback Landry Jones says, "All he talks about is winning and losing. (He) brings a lot of mental toughness (into meetings).”
Oklahoma hosts Utah State in the season-opener. One week later, the Sooners host Florida State. Bob Stoops’ brother, Mark, now serves as the defensive coordinator for the Seminoles.
