Throughout fall camp, North Carolina is giving its fans a peak behind the curtain by highlighting each aspect of their favorite football program in a series called “The Heel Life”.
Today, it’s the athletic trainer’s turn. Saying that a football program simply could not exist without them is still a massive understatement – that’s how important these people are. Head athletic trainer Scott Trulock, his two assistants and staff of 12 graduate/student assistants take care of the entire UNC program’s needs in every way possible, from rehab to injury prevention and everything in between.
What we really liked: at the midway point of every practice, the Tar Heels take a five minute break to get the entire team under a tent and in front of some fans while they load up on liquids in an effort to cool their collective body temperatures for the second half of the day’s work. They call it the “thermal assault”. We like it.
