Illinois will have new helmets this season

Since 1989, Illinois' helmets have looked like an impression of the old New York Giants lids. When your logo is not culturally appropriate to place on a helmet, there's not a whole lot more you can do. 

Last season, though, the Fighting Illini experimented with a matte blue block "I" helmet, which CBSSports.com reports Monday the team will adopt full-time in 2013. Only, in orange.
