James Franklin talks about calling the plays
Vanderbilt beat Elon 45-14 Saturday for Franklin's first win as a head coach.
You might not know it from the final score; but Elon put up a fight. Jason Swepson's team showed that they will play anyone tough; but at the end of the night Vandy got the W. Elon possessed the ball for over 35 minutes.
Franklin's team went for it three times on 4th down and showed a good bit of creativity in the offense.
In his post game talk (below) Franklin spoke about calling the plays, "I thought Coach John Donovan called a great game. I made recommendations throughout the game...I thought we worked very, very well together over the headphones."
As the presser was ending, Franklin actually came back to the podium to add a final note...that during the week he had met with 4 Vandy students, gone over some of the plays with them and allowed them to pick one play...and he says that was the call on the first touchdown of the season. Franklin is investing in creating excitement for his program.
