Following a 17-14 win over Virginia, Lane Kiffin expressed total disappointment in the play of the Trojans.
"The disappointment mostly is for the Trojan Family, the Trojan fans, I know how excited they were," Kiffin said about the atmosphere. "The crowd was great and we disappointed them. Even at half as they were hanging around, if we had just blown it open, it would've been like the old days. I think that's probably the biggest disappointment."
"I'm extremely disappointed with our performance. That's the most miserable 2-0 locker room I've ever been in, which is good. I think our players understand."
"We're not even close to getting it done."
“They outcoached us today. I would say we were outcoached.''
USC was outgained 340 to 329 yards. The Trojans were just 5 of 15 converting third-downs. USC also benefited from a critical blown call from the official when UVA executed a Boise State-like fake punt.
Regarding the blown call, Mike London said, "Well, I’ll just say that I was told after we came out for the third quarter that the one call on the fake punt that we did, that they blew the call. And I’ll just leave it at that."
USC plays at Minnesota next Saturday.
