London changing it up at Virginia
Mike London met with the media for 15 minutes during Virginia’s media day.London also allowed his three coordinators to meet extensively with the media.
That’s a far different approach than former head coach Al Groh’s one-voice policy.
London stated, "But, the mindset is, we're going to start out and try to do that. Whenever you talk about change, people want to know, 'What kind of change are you talking about?' If there wasn't visual exposure to the head coach or the players or assistant coaches, I wanted to make sure that was addressed."
Here's the video of London addressing the media.
Special teams coordinator Anthony Poindexter, who served on Groh’s staff, took the opportunity to make two points.
He added, "I'm going to use the best players. I don't look at is as a feel-good (situation) or a way to get people into the game."
Virginia hosts Richmond in the season opener.A week later, London will take the Cavaliers to The Coliseum to play USC.
