With a brand new contract, FIU head coach Mario Cristobal talked with 560 AM in Miami this morning.
Cristobal is pumped about the future of the FIU football program.
He said, “We are a blue-collar organization that stays very grounded because we do believe we have miles to go, but there is no ceiling. Our potential is sky high.”
“I’ve had the most fun coaching than in the year-and-a-half, two years than I’ve ever had before, so I’m pretty fired up.”
“We can run, man. We have some guys that can flat our run. And we’ve really invested heavily in our offensive and defensive lines, which is really paying off. We’ve now had a weight room for a year-and-a-half. Now, you feel good about those battles.”
“A year ago at Texas A&M, we’re legitimately a possession from taking a significant step on beating a BCS opponent in a very short history for our program. We’re getting better. We’re committed to it.”
FIU opens the season by hosting North Texas. The non-conference schedule includes at Louisville, UCF, Duke, and at Akron.
