New coach at George Fox has has deep ties

Chris Casey grew up a block away from campus of his new job, and has some deep ties to the community and football program he will be taking over when they hit the field for the first time in 2014.

Casey led Aloha HS (OR) to a 2010 state championship in his sixth season leading the program, but the opportunity to return to Newberg is a homecoming for him. Chris and his younger brother, Pat, served as ball boys for the last George Fox football team in 1969, and their family often hosted dinner after church for members of the football team as they were growing up. Pat went on to serve as the baseball coach at George Fox (1988-1994), and his other brother Brian is the Newberg police chief. Their parents still reside in Newberg.

Before taking the job at Aloha, Casey served as an assistant coach within the Northwest Conference serving as an assistant coach / recruiting coordinator and baseball coach at Linfield, and also as an assistant at Whitworth University. Casey will see both of those teams on their conference schedule in 2014.

Casey will still coach at Aloha for the 2012 season and officially take over at George Fox in January of 2013.
