Notre Dame releases 2014-16 schedules, and they're perfect

Notre Dame has been a football independent seemingly since Pope John I blessed the Fighting Irish football program into existence in the mid-sixth century. It hasn't actually been quite that long, but Notre Dame has a century's worth of experience building a football schedule, and never before have they constructed better schedules than 2014-16.

In a span of 36 games, Notre Dame will play schools from 16 different states up and down both coasts thanks to its new partial membership with the ACC and longstanding rivalries with USC and Stanford. Look at the litany of brand-name programs the Irish will bring into Notre Dame Stadium over the next three seasons: Michigan, Michigan State, USC, Stanford - the usuals - and then also Texas, North Carolina, Miami and Virginia Tech. Notre Dame will play games in the following media markets: New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Phoenix, Austin and San Antonio; in a three-season span, the Irish will visit six of the top eight and a dozen of the top 40 television markets in the country. And I haven't even mentioned road games to Florida State and Clemson.

Jack Swarbrick just delivered a master's class to other athletics directors on building a national schedule.
