Prognosis on the five winless teams (still) left in FBS

For the first time in what feels like a while, we didn't lose anyone off of Goose Egg Island. And for the first time this season, it bears mentioning that we're sailing toward an abnormally high number of winless teams. Only one team has completed a winless season since 2009. Since 2002 there has never been a season with more than two winless teams, and four years in which every single FBS team won at least one game.

The good news is that history tells us at least three of these clubs will find a win this month. I just have no idea who it will be.

Connecticut (0-7) -
The Huskies took this week off to brace for a game with preseason American favorite Louisville on Friday night.
The road ahead: vs. Louisville, at SMU, at Temple, vs. Rutgers, vs. Memphis

Conference USA
Southern Miss (0-8) - Saturday unfolded like so many Saturdays have for Southern Miss over the past 20 games, the Golden Eagles were out of the game efore it even started. Marshall was up 14-0 less than five minutes into the game and had a 28-0 lead through one en route to a 61-13 final score. There is actually some good news here, though. Todd Monken's team is now into the easiest stretch of the schedule, with a quartet of teams sporting a combined 13-21 record left on the schedule.
The road ahead: at Louisiana Tech, vs. Florida Atlantic, vs. Middle Tennessee, at UAB

Miami, Ohio (0-8) - In an incredibly light week in the MAC, Miami (Ohio) was off on Saturday. The RedHawks are in the exact opposite situation of Southern Miss, with three of their remaining four foes considered locks for bowl games and definite contenders for the MAC championship.
The road ahead: vs. Bowling Green, at Kent State, vs. Buffalo, at Ball State.

Mountain West
Hawaii (0-8) - Hawaii lost its 11th straight game on the mainland, falling 47-10 at Utah State. It was their worst loss of the season. Norm Chow's team will now go on the road for the second week in a row, heading to the East Coast for a date with Navy.
The road ahead: at Navy, vs. San Diego State, at Wyoming, vs. Army

Sun Belt
Georgia State (0-9) - The first team this season to nine losses, Georgia State fell 44-28 to Western Kentucky on Saturday. Trent Miles' team will take a well-deserved break on Saturday.
The road ahead: vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, at Arkansas State, vs. South Alabama
