Rutgers will move quickly

Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti spoke this afternoon about the path forward for Rutgers football now that Greg Schiano is leaving.

Full video is below; but here are some of the relevant things he had to say.

First and foremost, Pernetti believes the program is in great shape, "this is not a rebuild, this is a move forward."

Apparently, Pernetti lives by the Bill Moos style of governance..."Any AD worth whatever the university pays them has a list in their pocket the whole time."

The decision will be made "as soon as possible...best case scenario would be for the recruits on Wednesday to know who their new head coach will be." He added that he believes it's very "doable" to have a coach in place by then based on who he is considering for the job and based on the incoming calls.

He added himself to the football staff temporarily so that he could speak with recruits as necessary.

Sources we have spoken with tell us money won't be an issue in the search. Some names that sources tell us Pernetti had on his list include...Dan Mullen, Jeff Jagodzinski, Steve Addazio, Mario Cristobal and Al Golden. Two other names that we think should merit consideration are Greg Roman and Billy McGovern at BC. Rutgers offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti has interviewed for several head coaching jobs over the past few offseasons and will definitely make his case as well.

We also saw Bruce Feldman tweet that there may be interest in K.C. Keeler and Darren Rizzi.

We'll keep you posted; but don't expect this one to take long.
