Special teams an emphasis for LSU

Les Miles and first year special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey (who also coaches a defensive position) have done an impressive job putting emphasis on special teams play, and there's a reason that there the #1 team in the country.

Heading into Saturday's game, LSU ranked as one of the top punt units in the country, allowing only 7 yards on 11 returns and 38 total punts. Only South Florida, Northern Illinois, Louisville and Northwestern are allowing less yards per return (South Floida is actually allowing -2 yards per return).

In a game where field position was at a premium against Alabama, the Tigers only allowed one punt return for 0 yards.
