Stagg Trophy on the line tonight

Two of the best small college coaches in the country meet tonight for the Stagg Bowl trophy when Wisconsin Whitewater takes on Mount Union. This will be the seventh straight season that these two teams have met in national title game.

Lance Leipold is in his fourth season at the helm of the Warhawk program and has compiled an amazing career record of 71 - 3, along with back to back national titles and 3 titles in the past 4 years. In his first year taking over the program, Leipold posted a 14-1 record, and a conference title.

Larry Kehres brings an impressive career record of 317 - 23 - 3 into the game. Kehres' Purple Raiders have won 21 conference titles in his 25 years as the head coach and have finished the season undefeated 19 times, including 10 national championships.

The winner of tonight's game will take home the Amos Alonzo Stagg trophy made to honor the coach who invented helmets, the huddle, the man in motion, names on the backs of jerseys, the tackling dummy, and the lateral pass.
