The story behind Navy's 2012 motto: I.M.A.N.

The beginning of the 2012 season didn't go as expected for Navy as they dropped their first three FBS games (Notre Dame, Penn State and San Jose State), with their only win in their first four games coming against VMI.

Come to find out, at the end of the season those three FBS teams finished a combined 31-7. Tthe Midshipmen ended up recovering, winning seven of their next eight to finish 8-5 on the year.

Entering the year, the team came up with the acronym INAM as their motto for the season. The acronym stood for "It's Not About Me".

It was that outlook and attitude that helped Navy turn their season around, capture the Commander in Chief's trophy, beat Army for the 11th straight time, and make a bowl game for the ninth time in a decade.

In the video below, the players talk about INAM, how they came up with it, and what it meant to them throughout the year. That is followed up with a ton of highlights from the 2012 season with some pre and post game comments from Ken Niumatalolo mixed in.
