It's gut check time for this group. After Massachusetts broke through for its first win over fellow winless squad Miami (Ohio), there remains only one Goosegg Bowl left on the entire college football schedule: Connecticut at Temple on November 23. Aside from that, if these teams are going to get a win they'll have to earn it.
Connecticut (0-5) - The Huskies put up a better effort in game one under interim head coach T.J. Weist, grabbing a 10-7 lead over South Florida early in the second quarter. But they didn't score again, and lost 13-10. For the record, Weist is Connecticut's offensive coordinator.
The road ahead: at Cincinnati, at Central Florida, vs. Louisville, at SMU, at Temple, vs. Rutgers, vs. Memphis
Temple (0-6) - Maybe Temple just caught Cincinnati at a bad time. One week after surrendering South Florida's first win, the Bearcats rallied from a 13-7 deficit to beat Temple, 38-20.
The road ahead: vs. Army, at SMU, at Rutgers, vs. Central Florida, vs. Connecticut, at Memphis
Southern Miss (0-5) - Southern Miss was off on Saturday. In other words, it was the best Saturday the program has had in a while.
The road ahead: at East Carolina, vs. North Texas, at Marshall, at Louisiana Tech, vs. Florida Atlantic, vs. Middle Tennessee, at UAB
Miami, Ohio (0-6) - We're now halfway into the season, and the RedHawks' season high point total is 14 points. That's pretty much all you need to know.
The road ahead: vs. Akron, at Ohio, vs. Bowling Green, at Kent State, vs. Buffalo, at Ball State.
Western Michigan (0-7) -A 33-0 blanking at the hands of Buffalo is a new low point for year one under P.J. Fleck. The Bulls were 102nd in total defense, 94th in scoring defense and were 784-yard, 70-point victims of Baylor earlier this season.
The road ahead: vs. Ball State, at Massachusetts, at Eastern Michigan, vs. Central Michigan, at Northern Illinois
Hawaii (0-6) - The Warriors are college football's Kings of Uncompleted Rallies. After turning a 42-3 deficit to Fresno State into a 42-37 loss, Hawaii turned a 36-17 hole into a 37-36 lead until UNLV knocked in a 44-yard field goal at the buzzer for a 39-37 win.
The road ahead: vs. Colorado State, at Utah State, at Navy, vs. San Diego State, at Wyoming, vs. Army
Georgia State (0-6) - Trent Miles' team posted a season-high 28 points on Saturday. Unfortunately, they're still looking for their first game in which they hold the opponent to under 31 points.
The road ahead: at Texas State, at Louisiana-Monroe, vs. Western Kentucky, vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, at Arkansas State, vs. South Alabama
New Mexico State (0-6) - New Mexico State was off Saturday, and hosts possibly Conference USA's best team in Rice next week. The best news? Just one game away from Abilene Christian.
The road ahead: vs. Rice, vs. Abilene Christian, at Louisiana-Lafayette, vs. Boston College, at Florida Atlantic, vs. Idaho
