“The Ride,” a new reality TV show following Texas Tech behind-the-scenes, will begin airing prior to the Texas Tech season-opener against SMU.
The weekly show will air primarily on Fox Sports affiliates and the Cox Sports Network. TexasTech.com will also air the episodes, which will cover football, but other Red Raider sports as well.
Tommy Tuberville says, "With the popularity of reality shows on television, we thought this would be perfect way to showcase not only our football program but other sports at Texas Tech as well. The photographers and staff of this show have complete and total access to all of our sports and they will be giving viewers a unique inside look into college athletics. Texas Tech is going to be on the forefront of this and I know our fans are really going to love it."
Maryland and Auburn football have recently taken part in reality TV shows. Nick Saban recently granted ESPN the right to produce a series of all-access shows that have aired on ESPNU, but some coaches aren’t so sure the daily cameras are the best thing for their teams. Last summer, Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt didn’t think the timing was right for his team, thus turning down an opportunity to do a reality all-access show.
