As the interim head coach in a bowl game, you've got just one opportunity to nail your pre and post game speech.
USC's Clay Helton did just that, and him and the Trojan staff put together a game plan that stifled one of the nation's most productive offenses, and USC's talent ran away with the rest of the game, which ended up being 45-20.
After having three different head coaches this season, Helton hoisted the trophy in the locker room and told the team, "Know this...You did this. You had a mind set, you took it to the game, you knew you were going to win it. I couldn't be more proud. I know there are a lot of men, that aren't here, that are proud of you too...very proud."
When addressing the team before and after the game, Helton's passion for USC could not have been more evident, and having this unique experience in his back pocket will surely benefit him as a part of Steve Sarkisian's new staff.
