Gallaudet University (D-III - Washington, DC) is a football program, and university, unlike any other in the country.
You see, every single player on the roster has some type of hearing loss, and the University caters to the deaf and hard of hearing. Some can't hear or speak at all, while others only experience 5% hearing loss. With that being said, coaching and playing at Gallaudet has its challenges.
However, those challenges haven't stopped the program from one of the biggest turnarounds in the history of Division III football. Just a few short years ago the program was one of the worst in the country, and tomorrow, the team will play in school's first ever NCAA playoff game after finishing the season 9-1, and winning their first ever conference title.
Here's a really good look from ESPN inside of the program, as well as the challenges that they face and the biggest factor that led to their turnaround. This one is very inspirational and is probably going to give you goosebumps, so you've been warned.
