The Boise State Broncos come to Fresno tonight. It’s probably the biggest game at Bulldog Stadium since No. 10 Wisconsin visited the Bulldogs on September 13, 2008. Here’s why:

Fresno State is ranked No. 25 by the Associated Press, and No. 27 in the Coaches’ Poll. Win this game, and Fresno State will be firmly entrenched in both polls, a good precursor to a solid ranking to start the BCS standings in mid-October. Win this game, and Fresno State will be at least a 10-point favorite from now until the Mountain West title game. Win this game, and Fresno State will control its own destiny (as much as a non-automatic qualifier possibly can) to earning its first BCS bid, in the final year of the system.

The remaining schedule after tonight:

at Hawaii
at Idaho
vs. UNLV
at San Diego State
vs. Nevada
at Wyoming
vs. New Mexico
at San Jose State

It’s all out there in front of Tim DeRuyter’s team.

For what it’s worth, Scott, Zach and the Pac-12 Networks’ Bryan Fisher think Fresno pulls this one out, while Doug (18-for-20 in his Week 3 picks) sees Boise earning the win.

Here’s the hype video Fresno State produced in advance of tonight’s 6 p.m. local time (9 p.m. ET) kick on ESPN.
