College sports sometimes takes us down some strange paths. For today's example, we'll take a look at U.S. soccer goalie Hope Solo, who played for Washington from 1999-2002 and was a guest picker on College GameDay last Saturday in Seattle.
While explaining why she was picking the Huskies and her disdain for Oregon, she said: "Everybody thinks that Washington State is our biggest rivalry. Absolutely not. They're our little brother."
On his weekly radio show Monday, Washington State athletics director Bill Moos responded:“I don’t want to be Hope Solo’s little brother. She can find another little brother.
“I want to make that very explicit. I’m not her little brother, and neither are any of us Cougars.”
Washington State won last year's Apple Cup, 31-28 in overtime, in Pullman. The Cougars will visit Seattle on Friday, November 29.
