For almost two decades, Army has been a proud independent member of the FBS ranks.
That all changes in 2024, as numerous reports share this morning that Army will join the American Athletic Conference as a football-only member next fall.'
An official announcement is expected this afternoon.
With Army and Navy both members of the AAC now, the annual Army - Navy game is still expected to be played the second week in December and will reportedly be a non-conference contest.
If either the Black Knights or Midshipmen finish in the top two of the AAC, they would play in the AAC title game the first weekend of December.
The AAC lost Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF to the Big 12 and picked up some major media markets with the additions of UAB, FAU, Charlotte, North Texas, Rice, and UTSA with Army now set to join that crew.
