According to a report tonight from Brandon Marcello, Auburn defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff is stepping away from on-field coaching duties.
The move, which Marcello adds is temporary, is due to a "personal matter.
McGriff is still working with the team on a daily basis.
His return to The Plains to work as a member of Hugh Freeze's staff marked McGriff's third stint at Auburn
Special teams coordinator Tanner Burns is stepping in to coach the defensive backs. Burns previously coached linebackers and coordinated the special teams at Liberty for Freeze.
Auburn takes on Ole Miss this weekend, before getting Mississippi State at home, then Vanderbilt and Arkansas on the road. They end the year with New Mexico State at home before the Iron Bowl against Alabama in their season finale.
Please join us in wishing all the best for coach McGriff as he focuses energy on the personal matter at hand.
