Jim Harbaugh has already added a number of college assistants to his staff with the Chargers, with most of them coming from his staff at Michigan.
A report this morning shares that he's set to add yet another.
Per Adam Schefter, the Chargers are finalizing a deal to hire USC running backs coach Kiel McDonald as their running backs coach.
McDonald wrapped up his second season working with the Trojans running backs and has worked with some of the Pac-12's top talent at the position over the last several years.
Schefter adds that McDonald had opportunities to become an offensive coordinator at the college level this off season, but is now poised to head to the NFL.
Before joining Lincoln Riley's staff, McDonald spent five seasons at Utah coaching their running backs, where his guys set a number of records for the Utes, including the single season rushing touchdown record in 2021.
He also has experience coaching the running backs at Eastern Washington and was an offensive quality control coach at Arizona State in 2011.
