Will Healy had initially hired Herb Hand to fill his offensive line vacancy, but with Hand off to join Gus Malzahn at UCF Healy's focus has shifted.
Now, sources tell FootballScoop that the program is on the verge of hiring an offensive line coach with recent SEC and Big Ten experience.
Sources share that Healy is finalizing a deal with former Vanderbilt offensive line coach Pete Rossomando to fill their offensive line job.
Rossomando joined the Vandy staff in 2019 after serving as the offensive line coach at Rutgers for the 2019 season.
He previously served as the head coach at Central Connecticut State (FCS) from 2014-18, and also served as the head coach at New Haven (D-II - CT) for five seasons as well, where he compiled an impressive 42-13 record and took the team to the playoffs twice.
Other coaching stops for Rossomando include Albany, Cortland State, Northeastern and New Haven, where he was an assistant under NFL veteran assistant Tony Sparano.
Rossomando's hire marks the programs third offensive line coach since December.
Healy initially lost offensive line coach Lee Grimes to Kansas around Christmas time. He was able to land former Texas offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand for a bit, before Malzahn lured him to UCF.
