After "extensive meetings" on Monday and Tuesday, the Chicago Bears have determined to keep Matt Eberflus for a third season as head coach, according to multiple reports.
The club is making significant changes on offense, though. Coordinator Luke Getsy, quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko and "other members" of the offensive staff will not return. Albert Breer adds receivers coach Tyke Tolbert is also being let go.
The Bears have now shared that running backs coach Omar Young and assistant tight ends coach Tim Zetts are out as well.
The changes come ahead of a critical moment for the immediate future for the franchise.
Chicago owns the No. 1 pick in this spring's quarterback-heavy draft.
The Bears can either take a quarterback, trade Justin Fields, and brace for a complete offensive reset, or they can trade down and build around Fields with a package of picks atop the draft. In addition to the No. 1 pick, acquired via trade with Carolina as the Panthers moved up to take Bryce Young, Chicago also owns its own pick, No. 9.
The decision is a familiar one in the Windy City. The Bears have had a revolving door at offensive coordinator because they've had a revolving door at quarterback. And they've had a revolving door at quarterback because they've had a revolving door at offensive coordinator.
Two #Bears offensive coordinators have lasted more than 2 seasons in the last 25 years.

The next hire will be the 13th OC in 26 seasons.
The Bears improved noticeably in 2023. After a 3-14 debut in Eberflus's first season, the Bears went 7-10 this fall.
Chicago last reached the playoffs in 2020, last finished above .500 in 2018, and most recently won a playoff game in 2010.
