Contract details for Nevada coach Jeff Choate (Jeff Choate Contract)

An Football Bowls Subdivision head coach for the first time in his career, Jeff Choate also is now a million-dollar-earner in the world of college football.

Per contract terms released Tuesday, the University of Nevada's new leader has agreed to a five-year deal worth almost $6 million.

Nevada officials released the contract to multiple media outlets per state open records requests.

Choate, who served as co-defensive coordinator for the University of Texas and helped guide the Longhorns last weekend to the championship in their last-ever Big 12 Conference match, had earlier this year agreed to an extension with the Longhorns.

The former Montana State head coach made approximately $650,000 this season on Steve Sarkisian's Texas staff.

Choate's new Nevada deal is set to pay him an average of $1.15 million per year across its five-year term, not including various incentives including bowl appearances and conference championships.

With a base salary in 2024 of $750,000, Choate's deal includes additional compensation that pushes him across the seven-figure mark for each year of the deal.

The Wolf Pack fired Ken Wilson late last month; Wilson was owed a $1 million buyout from the school.
